You may register in advance to attend our conversion/membership classes. There are 3 six week classes that must be taken in a specific order to fulfill the conversion/membership process. During each round of classes you are only allowed to miss one out of the 6 sessions. If more than 1 class session is missed then that class must be retaken to move forward with membership/conversion. Click on the links below each class description to fill out the registration form for the class you would like to take.
SAR SHALOM WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONVERSION/ MEMBERSHIP CLASSES:
- HATCHALA: STARTING FROM SCRATCH
- HISTORY & EFFECTS OF ANTI-SEMITISM
- TO BE A JEW
Much more than a different perspective of Yeshua, the Messiah, or an overview of messianic Judaism, this exciting class reveals the core Biblical and historical truths that drive our synagogue. In Hatchala, you’ll discover the prominence of Torah among Biblical texts, and the proper understanding of the gospels from a Hebrew perspective. You’ll begin to understand critical terminology and Scriptural principles that have been ignored or suppressed (and therefore forgotten) for many centuries. And you will evaluate many common, though problematic, teachings about the Apostolic writings, and how they came about. We do this by directly addressing several critical topics in Scripture which – due to the loss of original Hebraic perspective – have been misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misapplied for literally thousands of years. What is the Torah? Who is the Messiah? What are the Moedim? What are the covenants? And perhaps the most challenging of all: “But Paul said…” If you’re ready for a fast-paced, entertaining, paradigm-shifting view of the faith (and the Bible) you thought you knew so well, this is it! (Hatchala is also the first step toward membership and service at Sar Shalom.)
This class discusses the long history and tragic effects of anti-Semitism in both antiquity and modern times. “The History and Effects of Anti-Semitism” is a hard hitting and candid class that takes an honest look at the deep rooted anti-Semitic foundation of the church as verified by numerous credible historical resources. Here you will discover the intrinsic anti-Semitism of many famous “Church Fathers”, Popes, founders of Protestantism, and even some of the most beloved Christian figures of modern time. In addition, it will address the effect of these anti-Jewish / anti-Judaism philosophies on those who profess Yeshua as Messiah. This course will take the student through a difficult history in order to facilitate a needed healing of the soul.
**To register for this class you must have completed Class 1: Hatchala**
In this course we discuss the various ideologies, theologies, customs, and traditions of normative Judaism in a reflective, inspirational, and understandable way. “To Be A Jew” will help you understand not only how we follow the mitzvot but why; bringing into focus the deep spiritual connection that we have in living a Jewish life, and underscoring the Biblical precept to love HaShem with all of our heart, soul and strength. Can one really be “Jewish” and “a believer in Yeshua”? Absolutely, and our second level class welcomes you into the amazing experience of walking out an observant Jewish lifestyle as a believer in Yeshua the Messiah.
